Ohty’s tea story

The kitchen cabinets in my childhood home were lined up with elegant, artisanal clay tea sets – meticulously handpicked by my parents to honor the tradition and artistry of tea. My mom would take a set off the shelves when guests arrive, boil a pot of water, and sift in the green tea leaves slowly. In my home, tea was an experience imbued with ritual and a sense of occasion, vibrant in its flavors and deeply captivating.

However, as I ventured into adulthood, the presence of tea dimmed around me. The nuanced rituals of tea drinking gave way to quick, commodified versions, where tea was relegated to the bottom of coffee-shop menus or transformed into overly sweet concoctions. 

I began making matcha lattes every morning to start the day – my own small ritual. However, an array of meetings and classes on the calendar often squeeze away time for tea making, and I instead find myself grabbing a quick coffee pod. It was near impossible to find quality, ready-to-drink tea that resonated with the authenticity and richness of the teas from my childhood. 

This search for authenticity and quality in the fast-paced rhythm of modern life drew me to creating Ohty, a ready-to-drink tea latte brand.

Ohty offers a nod to tradition while embracing the modern consumer’s on-the-go lifestyle, ensuring that the experience of tea can be a constant companion, even in our busiest moments.
